7Artisans’ $169 AF 18mm f/2 Brings Pancake Style to APS-C Sony Cameras
7Artisans has released the AF Lite 18mm f/2, a $169 pancake prime for Sony E-mount APS-C mirrorless cameras. Its 18mm focal length gives a 27mm-equivalent field of view, while the 109-gram, 32mm-long design suits compact bodies such as the Sony ZV-E10 and a6700. The lens offers autofocus for stills and video, focuses as close as 0.2 meters, accepts 52mm filters and uses a nine-bladed aperture behind nine elements in seven groups. Its f/2 aperture also makes it useful for low-light street scenes and nighttime cityscapes. The all-metal barrel and square retro-style hood add physical character, but compatibility on the a6500 and a6600 is not yet fully complete. For travel, vlogging and everyday shooting, its main advantage is carrying a genuinely small autofocus prime without giving up a versatile normal-wide perspective.

Can a Budget TTArtisan 85mm f/1.8 Handle Paid Portrait Work?
The TTArtisan AF 85mm f/1.8 Neo is a low-cost full-frame autofocus portrait lens that has been tested on a Panasonic Lumix S9 during paid work. Its optics were found sharp enough for 25- to 30-megapixel sensors, with controlled chromatic aberration, no visible distortion and smooth, slightly less clinical background rendering. The compromises are substantial: the barrel is plastic apart from the metal mount, there is no focus ring or manual-focus override, the markings are printed, and the lens has no weather-sealing. Those omissions make it less flexible for video or situations where the camera misses the eye at f/1.8. They also clarify its role: a studio lens, backup optic or inexpensive option for demanding environments. For portraits, spending less on glass may leave more budget for a body with dependable eye detection.

7Artisans’ 109g 18mm F2 is an ultra-light autofocus prime for APS-C Sony cameras
7Artisans says its new 18mm F2 is a 109-gram autofocus prime for APS-C Sony cameras and costs $169. The pancake format is the central design decision: the lens is only 32mm long, making it notably easy to pair with a small mirrorless body. On Sony APS-C cameras, the focal length provides a 27mm-equivalent view, a practical range for everyday scenes without becoming an extreme wide angle. The F2 maximum aperture gives the lens a useful low-light option, while autofocus supports both photographic and video use. The announcement identifies it as the lightest autofocus F2 prime available for APS-C cameras, according to 7Artisans. Photographers building a lightweight Sony kit can therefore treat it as a compact general-purpose lens, while checking camera-specific compatibility before relying on it with older bodies.
